With a large student population, there are many graduate schemes in most sectors as well as apprenticeships. The Glasgow Chamber of Commerce identified its key sectors as life sciences, engineering, tourism and education. As a lot of people are in professional and financial roles, there are also many working in administrative and secretarial positions in every sector. That said, there is always a need for skilled and unskilled labour, which means there is no shortage of jobs in the city.

There are various digital tech sectors in the city, including e-commerce and enterprise software. The city has a growing and booming creative industry thanks to the constant inflow of talent. Theatre, art, music and media is a large part of the Glaswegian culture. It is home to 124 TV production companies and is responsible for just over 80 per cent of Scotland’s TV turnover.

The Scottish city is a relatively affordable city to live in, with a pint of beer being £1 or £2 cheaper than the likes of Manchester and London. Also, with more restaurants, pop-ups and cafes than anyone’s ever likely to need, Glasgow is foodie heaven, catering to carnivores and vegans alike. It is said that Glasgow is the vegan capital of Britain. A three-bedroom flat in the city centre rents for around £1,300 per month.
