The Neurosciences Directorate at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a locum ST3+ Specialist Registrar in Neurology & Stroke Medicine.
The West London Neurosciences Centre, serves a population of approximately 2.2 million people living in the North West Thames region. It incorporates the departments of Neurology, Stroke, Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Neurophysiology, Neuropsychology and Neuropathology and has close links with the academic departments at Imperial College. The Stroke Department has Hyperacute Stroke Research Centre (HSRC) status, which is ideal for candidates keen on front-line involvement in international trial recruitment.
This post would be ideal for motivated, enthusiastic candidates wanting to gain experience in both general/sub-specialty Neurology and Stroke Medicine, within Central London. The post involves:
3 months on Neurology: care of neurology inpatients, a multitude of sub-specialty outpatient clinics, acute neurology liaison service and weekly academic and neuro-radiology meetings;
3 months of Stroke Medicine: rotation through the stroke department, including the Hyperacute Stroke Unit, TIA clinic, Thrombolysis and Thrombectomy cover.
The post holder would be expected to participate in the on-call rota: non-resident neurology and resident thrombolysis/thrombectomy.
Full Registration with a licence to practice with the General Medical Council and MRCP (or equivalent) is essential. Neurology experience within the NHS, preferably at registrar level, is desirable.
This post is not a formally approved training post, but the post holders will have Consultant led Educational Supervision and will be supported in their professional development.
