Job DescriptionSD Labs is looking for a Product Insights and Experimentation Analyst to join our Data Platform team. We're seeking someone who wants to be part of a small team that is continuously rethinking the future of retail while interfacing with our corporate parent - Sports Direct International. You will be an integral part of our team using data to improve and reinvent the operations and practices of a retailer generating over 3 billion a year in revenue. You will work closely with other SD Labs teams who are introducing new software products into Sports Direct International (SDI). Your principal goal will be to develop insights from the data generated by those products which will be used to elevate our user's experience or improve our business operations. Inevitably the role will be shaped and crafted to fit each candidate's specific skills and experience. That being said, you will be responsible for: * working with product owners to identify key metrics and supporting those key metrics with easily consumed, relevant data interfaces * designing experiments within our products that will offer us valuable insights then evaluating and presenting the results of those experiments * advocating for the right level of data generation in our products - tracking that helps us serve our users but isn't overly burdensome to our technical systems or abusive of user's privacy * exploring data generated from our products and deriving insights from the use of modern data tools and the application of statistical frameworks * telling the story of how we use data to improve our products and processes and presenting findings to a variety of audiences * taking ownership of data process and results documentation * working with other analysts / data engineers / stakeholders on wider analytics projects and ensuring your product data initiatives are supported * evangelizing a data-driven culture within both SD Labs and SDI The role will initially be focused on our emerging Ecommerce platform that we are building in conjunction with Reaction Commerce, an open-source, Google Ventures-backed startup. SD Labs is growing and is developing other products as well - the role may expand to incorporate the same responsibilities across multiple products. Requirements About You You have a product mindset and are passionate about how data can be used to iterate and improve software products. You excel within teams that have a data-driven consumer focus and work in an agile manner. You understand how to interface with the different elements of a product team including engineering, design, product management, and project management. You see yourself as an owner of the products you work with and feel deep responsibility for the quality of the product as well as our user's experience. You have the appropriate technical skills . You are proficient at composing complex SQL queries as well as conducting insightful data analysis. You also have experience in presenting your findings using modern tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel and Looker and are knowledgeable of industry best practices in creating reports / dashboards. Knowledge of Python or R is a plus but not essential. Ideally you possess a Bachelor's Degree in a numerate subject (Maths/Statistics/Economics or similar), but this requirement is waved if you can demonstrate the relevant technical skills and knowledge from previous experiences. You take the initiative . You continuously come up with innovative ideas and think outside the box on how to improve the product. You put yourself in the shoes of the customer in order to challenge the status quo by defining hypotheses, conducting experiments and always asking the right questions to keep our products at the forefront of retail. You can identify valuable insights from data sources. You can isolate the signal from the noise and find information that can directly contribute to a better understanding of how our business is operating and ideally improve our processes. You have proven experience generating these insights via the implementation of data analysis strategies and can translate these insights into deliverables that aid in optimizing efficiency across the business. You keep up on the latest developments in your field. You have a deep knowledge of available tools, processes, and trends in data analytics. You are a life long learner who does not get stuck in a single way of doing things while also being able to assess when a certain technology may be too 'early' or not fit in with our current systems or priorities. You are a self starter and a team player. You love to set your own course, while also ensuring you work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure your projects are delivering value back into the business.
