Provides technical guidance and leadership to various disciplines within Cubic. Provides project coordination, and supervision. Coordinates activities for proposals/new business. Defines budget and schedule constraints. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction.  Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.Essential Job Duties and Respons AnalysisLead the capture and analysis of customer and stakeholder requirements, including the execution of requirement capture meetings and workshops with the clients and internal stakeholders.Define and analyse the Solution Requirements through modelling, workshops, prototyping, and design reviews as appropriate.Define, manage and communicate the solution compliancy status with all stakeholders, and resolve non-compliances with internal and external stakeholders at all levels up to senior management.Solution Definition, Design and ControlAssume overall technical leadership and responsibility for the solution technical design, ensuring adherence to the solution requirements, cost and schedule constraints, company product policy, legislative and regulatory constraints, and required solution qualities (e.g. manufacturing, supportability, etc.).Researches design concepts and feasibility.Maintains liaison with customer, subcontractor and vendor representatives.  Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.Coordinates and develops project concepts, objectives, specifications and resource needs.Monitors project progress and measures project performance against schedules and cost. Create, analyse, and document system solution designs in accordance with and traceable to the customer, business and solution requirements. This may involve investigation of existing systems to determine the impact of enhancement requests and potential solution reuse.Ensure solution designs reflect the state-of-the-art and industry best practice, and ensure innovative opportunities are prosecuted.Identifies the need for and leads/performs trade-off studies in a structured manner, including documenting and communicating the rationale and outcomes to all stakeholders.Assume responsibility for consistency of the system interface definitions.Lead multi-discipline implementation teams in the derivation of subsystem hardware and software requirements, enforcing full traceability of requirements throughout the hierarchy.Perform ultimate review and approval of all specifications and design documents for the solution.Solution Integration, Verification and Validation Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors as the project technical representative.Lead the integration, verification, validation, and qualification planning and definition activities, and lead and participate in those activities as required.Create and execute certification plans to gain approval by certifying agencies.Define and lead real-world trials of the solution, including customer-witnessed acceptance testing.Review and approve test specifications, procedures and results from implementation teams.Define, maintain and document the solution compliancy verification evidence, and negotiate the acceptance of system non-compliances with internal and external stakeholders.System Deployment and Support Develops system deployment plans and appropriate subsequent operational documentation.Develops the System Release Note and System Configuration PlanAnalyses system performance against requirements post rollout.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesUndertake the role of Technical Delivery Lead as required. The Technical Delivery Lead works closely with the Project Manager (PM) and is responsible for overall engineering technical delivery, including setting priorities across disciplines, maintaining schedules, and ensuring quality of technical delivery.Directs, coordinates and contributes to compilation and writing of technical proposal documents and associated costs and execution schedules.Prepare and present technical proposals to customers and provide technical support to any sales and marketing activities.Assume responsibility for the identification, communication and mitigation of technical and security risks.Lead and document design studies that span multiple engineering disciplines and system and sub-system boundaries.Lead the engineering design gateways.Generate Systems Engineering estimates.Continually review and evaluate the work of other Systems Engineers and developers.Investigate fault reports to determine root cause and propose solutions.Report to management on performance against specification, budget, timescale and quality requirements to identify deviations from plan and carry out corrective action.Trains internal engineering staff and customers on products and solutions.Review and highlight trends, security threats or technical bulletins which may impact Cubic or our customers.Ensure adherence to GDPR policy and ensures that new designs are compliant with GDPR and storage/transmission of PII data.Identifies systems engineering process improvements, and supports the execution of them across the Engineering Management Plan (SEMP).Manage all requirements within IBM® RATIONAL® DOORS®, including definition and maintenance of the requirements model and project working practices.Generate and maintain solution documentation using modelling tools and languages, including Enterprise Architect® and Universal Modelling Language (UML).Document and ensure rigorous configuration control using background, with an emphasis on system architecture.Significant Systems Engineering experience working in related roles where the applicant has had TDA responsibility on a large, complex integration project.Proven experience of designing systems to processes compliant to industry-standard Systems Engineering process models such as ISO/IEC 15288.Previous experience of leading technical project teams with at least 10 team members.Understanding of information security best practise.Highly effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to interpret technical contract requirements. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors, and deal with employees and managers at all levels in manufacturing, engineering and other departments. Must be able to solve complex and difficult systems engineering problems. In depth knowledge of customer needs and competing products.Experience with conducting risk assessments.Demonstrated experience in conceptualizing, designing and product development. Ability to solve complex and difficult system design and engineering problems.Demonstrated
