Job DescriptionMid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust employs nearly 5,000 staff and provides a comprehensive range of acute and community based services from four sites in and around Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree. The Trust enjoys a strong clinical reputation and provides a wide range of services including A&E, emergency medicine and surgery, elective surgery in most specialties, and maternity and paediatric services. It also hosts regional plastics, head and neck and upper gastrointestinal (upper GI) surgical services and a supra-regional burns service to a population of 9.8 million. The post holder will work closely with the Practice Development Midwife to ensure that robust processes are in place to meet the unit's governance, training and education agenda. It will involve managing the mentorship and preceptorship requirements for the Maternity Unit, assisting in the design and implementation of education and training plans, maintaining the training database, in relation to service development and provision. You will also be responsible for the support of all maternity staff, particularly newly qualified and those new to the unit, and on a practice support programme. You will support the Practice Development Midwife in the review of workforce requirements, skill mix and recruitment to ensure a workforce fit for practice with safe levels of staffing skill mix and numbers within the maternity unit. MEHT contracts are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period. All Registered Nurse/Midwife/Theatre Practitioner or ODP you will be required to take a Drug Calculation Test. (please note 100% pass mark required) All HCA/HCSW/MCA will be required to take a Literacy and Numeracy test (80% pass required) as part of the pre employment process.
