Purpose of the role * Resource, manage and oversee guided learning sessions. * Resource, manage and oversee bench tests of applicants to the Academy. * Responding to all enquiries and providing high standard information, advice and guidance to customers and learners. * Contributing to policies and procedures that improve quality of service. * To maintain and monitor consumables and equipment in the classrooms, workshops and CAD suite to ensure all learners are able to access a wide range materials and processes as part of their course provision. * To maintain and monitor stock control/ inventory of all tools and materials. * To assist tutors in the ordering of materials and equipment and preparing and processing purchase orders on approval from the Head of Teaching and Learning. * Liaising with finance department on the purchasing of tools and materials. * To monitor and report updates on tools and materials budgets. * Manage and oversee the financial reconciliation of Petty cash & filing of receipts. * To maintain and monitor use of all electrical equipment used for teaching e.g. laptops, Ipads, cameras and Dictaphones. * Under the direction of the Group Head of Security, to ensure that all Health & safety requirements are met. * To maintain first aid kits and other first aid materials needed. * To monitor the recording of accidents in the accidents record books across the sites. * Document, file and report (when appropriate) near miss reports. * To attend, take minutes during and monitor actions after relevant health and safety meetings. * To maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with Health & Safety requirements. * Carry out various duties as designated Health and Safety officer across BAJ sites. * Carry out weekly Health and Safety checks on all equipment and machinery and report directly to the Head of Teaching and Learning. * Assist Heads of Programmes in the production of Risk and COSSH assessments. * Maintain all health and safety posters across all sites. * Ensure that all learners, including those with mobility issues or learning difficulties can access and use the teaching facilities and equipment. * Undertake workshop PAT testing * Provide technical support to staff during lesson time as required. * Developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning e.g. recommended suppliers for tools and materials with prices list. When appropriate cover lessons, demos and taster sessions. Requirements Qualification * Desirable: Level 2 or higher in Jewellery Manufacture (or similar work experience) * Desirable: Health and Safety at Work Level 2 or higher * Desirable: First Aid Training at Work Level 2 or higher Experiences * Desirable: background in creative workshop environment. * Knowledge and understanding of jewellery and/or fine art and design equipment, tools and materials. * Experience working with computers and data entry systems. Skills * Highly organised and meticulous. * Great communicator and excellent in working as part of a team. Abilities Enthusiastic about tools, equipment and materials.
