Highly Specialist (band 7) Occupational Therapist 1 WTE
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our Medical/Surgical team as a Team Lead. The post is within the Acute services and is based at Northwick Park Hospital. This is a great opportunity to improve your leadership skills and clinical experience within the acute hospital setting by providing high quality patient focused assessments and rehabilitation within a friendly and supportive team.
You will working as part of a team to ensure excellent standards of care to our service users and be responsible for leading the Medical Surgical Team together with a co-worker(Band 7) whilst also managing a caseload of patients with varying diagnoses and complexity. You will be supported by the Band 8 Therapy Lead.
The OT structure consists of Band 5 through to Band 8B, and you will work alongside a Consultants, Doctors, Psychologist, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Care Assessors, Dieticians, Speech and Language Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants alongside external agencies and Reablement Providers. The successful applicants will have an opportunity to gain experience in supervising junior staff and students, and opportunities to develop and progress their career through regular internal and external training. A framework of regular supervision including 1:1, peer supervision, appraisal and in-service training is in place
The successful candidate will be required:
To work as a qualified occupational therapist in a Multi-disciplinary setting together with Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Care Assessors, Speech and Language Therapists and Dieticians.
To contribute to service development, in line with government recommendations and emerging evidence.
To be an autonomous practitioner assessing patients, defining treatment needs in relation to occupational therapy and carrying out this treatment for own caseload, maintaining clinical records.
To be responsible for own continuous professional development building on previous experience enabling further development of clinical and managerial competencies.
To undertake a leader role, alongside the OT Team Leader and Service Manager, in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the service
To participate in audit.
The successful applicant will need to:
Have significant post graduate experience in the NHS and experience in acute hospital setting including sound knowledge of medical and surgical conditions and its impact of patient function. Advanced clinical reasoning and problem solving skills is essential.
Have a dynamic approach to work and capable of working in a changing environment.
