JOIN OUR LOWER THAMES CROSSING PROJECT TEAM IN LONDON In Tunnel and Underground Infrastructure, you will become part of COWI's Tunnels unit. Tunnel & Underground Infrastructure has hundreds of skilled experts worldwide and have one of the largest infrastructure departments in the world. We are experienced in all types of tunnels and infrastructure in sectors ranging from railways, highways, metros to energy and power, and we cover the entire lifecycle of a project from idea, concept and design to operation and maintenance. The Lower Thames Crossing is the single biggest roads investment project since the M25 was completed more than 30 years ago. It will form a vital part of the UK's transport infrastructure and will help businesses large and small to grow and bring people and communities closer to job, education and leisure opportunities. It will connect Essex and Kent and almost double road capacity across the Thames east of London. EXTEND YOUR POTENTIAL WITHIN A TEAM OF EXPERTS In this position, you will join our global team of experts and work closely with the Ground Engineering Interpretation & Reporting Team Lead. Your primary role will be to consolidate all available ground-related information and desk study findings to develop a ground model, or ground models, for the project. On a day to day basis, you will: * Complete, with the support of members of the team, the GIR for the project based on the preferred alignment to "state of the art" standard, in line with Highways England's HD-22/08 requirements. * Develop a ground model, or ground models, for the project, consolidating all desk study findings and available ground-related information, including ground investigation information and associated AGS data. * Undertake a review of the present version of the desk study/PSSR for the scheme. * Assist with the identify and acquiring of outstanding historical data and other available sources of information, including but not limited to: additional historical boreholes, maps, geophysical records, BGS Studies, literature, geomorphologic mapping, remote sensing, hydrogeology etc. * Ensure inclusion of obtained data in GIS and the desk study. * Contribute to the preparation of the scheme risk register focused on identifying ground- and site-related hazards. * Attend meetings with the HE geotechnical specialist as required. * Promote innovation, best practice and lessons learned from other major UK/international projects. * Comply with internal standards, QA processes, policies and all regulatory requirements. * Represent LTC-CASCADE in all interfaces with internal or external stakeholders, landowners, Statutory and non-Statutory bodies, etc, as required. Furthermore, you shall have: * Experience of working as an Engineering Geologist currently operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level or equivalent, or higher. * Experience of producing HE HD22/08 reports, and GIRs along with preparing desk studies for major linear infrastructure projects. * Experience of assessing, analysing, interpreting and reporting ground investigation information, including AGS data. * Experience working with GIS platforms and a 3D environment * Understanding of the London Basin geology and previous work experience of working on projects in the area. * Experience on large highways and tunnelling, multidisciplinary, infrastructure schemes. * Clear understanding of geology, applied geology, geotechnics, civil engineering for transport infrastructures (including tunnelling). * Appreciation of issues associated with geo-environmental aspects, contamination, archaeology, TPI assessment and monitoring, sustainability, GIS, remote sensing. * Experience in managing small ground engineering team is desi
