We are looking for a Band 6 EBME Engineer to work for St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the largest healthcare provider in southwest London and one of the UK's largest teaching hospitals.
The EBME engineer will be part of the EBME business unit, one of the main units of the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department of St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The EBME unit is responsible for providing a range of medical equipment management services including full maintenance management of all medical equipment across the Trust hospitals and clinics. The EBME services are delivered in accordance with MHRA Managing Medical Devices (April 2015) and its ISO 13485:2016 Medical Devices Quality Management System.
You will be required to work at St Georges Hospital and possibly in some off-site areas.
The post is for a highly skilled self-motivated Engineer to work on the maintenance of a wide range of medical equipment including high priority complex equipment. The postholder will participate in key planned maintenance programs in clinical departments that have challenging environments such as Theatres, intensive care units, emergency department and endoscopy unit with the aim to achieve maintenance compliance targets to meet the needs of the Trust clinical services and the CQC expectation.
The successful candidate will support the Trust's medical equipment throughout its life cycle and will be involved in acceptance processes, scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, repairs and the decommissioning and safe disposal of the equipment.
The post involves working with other healthcare professionals, often in clinical areas, therefore excellent communication skills will be required to interact with medical, nursing and technical staff.
The postholder must have the knowledge to make a contribution to the policies and procedures used by the EBME, the development of the services provided, and their efficiency, and to the delivery of work according to the EBME Quality Management System.
Previous experience in working on specialist medical equipment maintenance in challenging and busy environments is a big advantage.
