Role Overview

This role is hybrid role providing 1 st and 2 nd line technical support as well as supporting the firms Moves and Changes process; including Joiners, Leavers, bi-annual Trainee intake and rotations and BAU desk moves.

The successful candidate will be technically astute, have the ability to converse & communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and consistently deliver excellent service following the defined Incident and Request Fulfilment processes.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in similar roles from other Professional services organisations

The Role

The Deskside and Moves Technician role sits within our Customer Services team in the Technology department.

The role will report into the IT Service Operations Manager.

Hours are Friday to Tuesday between 9.30am to 5.30pm. There is some flexibility to work Thursday to Monday or Friday to Tuesday.

The role may require some work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm and overtime is available for this.

Key Responsibilities

Moves and Changes – point of escalation for moves and changes related queries, desk audits and physical moves process including Joiners, Leavers, Trainee Intake & other Office moves
Provide 1 st line support via phone, email and chat facilities to support our end users
Provide face to face troubleshooting support to end users
Provide trouble-shooting and guidance for the operation of desktops, laptops, hardware, server equipment and software applications
Configuration, repair, administration and general support of IT Hardware; to include, SCCM admin, PSU replacements, imaging, etc.
Printer configuration (Desktop HP, Ricoh, SATO label printers, etc.)
Technical support of the firms telephony systems – maintenance and troubleshooting to include; line patching/ basic PABX, and the installation of desk phones, conferences phones, etc.)
Stock checks, swing stock replenishment, Asset disposal/tagging and management and ensuring the firm’s IT stores are kept well stocked and tidy at all times
Regular co-ordination and management of 3rd party Technical resources
Work closely with the Deskside and Telecoms teams to provide a seamless Moves and Changes experience
Perform any other reasonable duties requested by the IT Service Operations Manager
Provide regular and appropriate communication to ensure all stakeholders have the right information to enable them to act on the Moves and Changes

Candidate Requirements

Candidates for this position will be expected to have worked, or be working within a similar role in a legal or professional services environment. Candidates will be required to have the following practical knowledge and decision making skills:


Knowledge & Experience

At least 2 years’ experience working within a legal IT environment or 3 years’ in Professional services
Practical experience in MS Windows 2000/2008 server
Previous practical experience in Joiners, Movers and Changes in a similar professional services environment
Experience in troubleshooting Windows 10/ Office 2013 in a multi device environment
CompTia A+ & Networks+ certification and MCP Troubleshooting
Understanding of command prompt and system registry
Mobile Device Management, e.g. MobileIron, iPhones, etc.
Proven hardware skills (upgrading RAM, replace hard disk, etc.)
