Job DescriptionWessex Advanced Switching Products (WASP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Aerospace, is a leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and we currently have some exciting positions based at our Havant facility, including a Design Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Design Engineer is the Design Authority at WASP and must provide excellent quality and complete design solutions for specific programs from initial design conception through to design release for manufacture Key responsibilities include - • Control of projects and documents designated by the Engineering Manager or Technical Administrator from initial conception through to Customer acceptance to agreed timescales. • Retaining ownership and responsibility for customer based projects. • Undertake drawing checking when required. • Project plan and manage time effectively. • Liaising with the Certification Team to obtain the relevant information to provide Technical documentation requirements to agreed time scales. • Creation of drawings, documents, BOMs and any other related Technical documentation to support projects. • Revision of drawings and documentation in line with review comments from Peers, Customers and Certification Authorities until documentation is accepted. • Provide Technical and Test documentation for each design for manufacturing purposes. • Liaise with Program Management and Customers throughout the project process to ensure conformance to specification. • Liaise with all relevant departments throughout the project cycle to ensure a smooth and efficient introduction. • Keep the Engineering Manager and Senior team informed of project progress and of any problems internally or externally. • Keep all 'interested parties' informed of project progress and status, including Customer, Suppliers, Sub-contractors etc. • Provide Certification and Reliability documentation for designs requiring Reliability and Qualification testing. • Provide certification support for all projects throughout the product life once in Manufacture. • Observe all document and data control protocols. • Follow defined process, procedures and specifications. • Ensure all safety regulations and statuary requirements are met at all times. • Work to companywide Processes and Work Instructions, and ensuring AS9100 is understood and being adhered to at all times. • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will have the following - • Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure in a busy environment. • Ability to work with limited or missing information and proactively track down what is required to keep documentation moving. • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and interact with staff members at all levels within the business. • Meticulous attention to detail is essential. • An excellent understanding of an Engineering Office environment. • An excellent understanding of Engineering / Manufacturing environment. • An understanding on aircraft manufacturer's qualification standards and related standards. • Must be computer literate: word, excel and project. • Must be CAD literate: Solidworks, AutoCAD or ProgeCAD.
