Job DescriptionSummary THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE An opportunity exists for a 12 month, full-time Assistant Psychologist post within the Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Service. It is based at the Ablet Unit, Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, Rhyl, with work into other rehab units throughout North Wales. The post will be key to the implementation of cognitive rehabilitation interventions. There is also a requirement to conduct audit with rehabilitation services. The Rehabilitation Service in North Wales comprises 34 inpatient beds (8 locked) based in Llanfairfechan, Ruthin, Wrexham and Bodelwyddan. There are 2 community teams which cover eastern and central areas of BCUHB. Individuals with complex, pervasive and persistent difficulties are worked with to maximise their abilities and encourage the development of new skills. Referrals are taken from both acute and long term mental health hospitals, with associated risks that have made community placement untenable. There are a wide range of presentations, ages and backgrounds within the service; with severe psychotic phenomena being common, but also young people with socially and emotionally unstable histories. Balancing risk, whilst promoting recovery and personal growth is a constant challenge which the service endeavors to meet. The MDT approach uses assessment and formulation as the basis for any interventions, and there is a focus on creating a positive, hopeful environment, with an emphasis on supporting the individual to take responsibility and gain independence. Under regular supervision from the 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will, beside the service evaluation, work with staff and clients to achieve a collaborative formulation followed by joint working on skills and emotional stabilisation. The post holder will work with colleagues across many disciplines (including medics, nursing, and dietetics) and should be able to demonstrate the ability to do so. Applicants should have a Psychology degree (2.1 or higher), past experience with individuals with complex mental health difficulties, and audit and evaluation are preferred for this post. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. For further details / informal visits contact: Esme Paynter
