We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with recent secretarial experience to join the Secretarial Team at Scarborough Hospital. You will provide support to the visiting Consultant teams in Colorectal and Upper Gastro-intestinal surgery.
Excellent administration/secretarial skills and audio-typing qualifications are vital, as well as a good understanding of customer relations. You will regularly be required to deal with queries from patients, consultants and GPs.
You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, answering telephone enquiries and dealing with patient referral queries, as well as covering the Scarborough based Medical Secretary during periods of absence and general administrative tasks.
The successful candidate will be required to work well under pressure, with the ability to prioritise the demands of a busy office and manage their time and workload effectively. They will also be required to work unsupervised and communicate with Consultant Surgeons on a regular basis. This post requires skills in medical terminology, word processing and audiotyping.
This post is for 37.5 hours per week in Scarborough Hospital, initially on a fixed term basis until July 2020 with the possibility that this may be extended or made permanent in the future, and therefore would be an ideal training or secondment opportunity for anyone wishing to pursue a career as a Medical Secretary.
