When looking for a place to work for, it’s important to research the company’s culture, pay benefits, treatment of staff, as well as many other small things. Every sector has big and successful companies to be part of, but which ones are the top employers?

We have compiled a generalised list of the top ten best organisations to work for, ranging from insurance to engineering. Our list is compiled from foundings made by The Sunday TimesGlassdoor, and CNBC.

1. Anglian Water

Sector: Water and Sewerage

Headquarters: Huntingdon

Overview: Anglian Water is a water company that supplies water to the majority of East of England. The company employs over 4,000 people and supplies water to over six million. According to Glassdoor, 94 per cent of people who worked there approve of the CEO. Employees praise the company for being proud and passionate, resulting in a positive work culture.

2. Admiral Group

Sector: Insurance

Headquarters: Cardiff

Overview: Admiral Group is a large motor insurance company that is listed in the London Stock Exchange as a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. The company launched in 1993 and now has operations in Spain, Italy, France, USA, and Mexico. Admiral scored 80 per cent on having a strong sense of family in a survey taken by staff. They also scored 76 per cent in having an inspirational chief executive.

3. ASOS

Sectors: Fashion, Retail and Warehouse.

Headquarters: London

Overview: ASOS is one of the world’s biggest online retailers, with over 4,300 employees in the UK.  According to LinkedIn, everyone at the company has an “entrepreneurial attitude” and the fact they are part of “youth culture” is massively beneficial to both the staff and the consumers. Reviews on Glassdoor show that 86 per cent of staff approve of the Chief Executive Officer.

4. Bain & Company

Sectors: Consulting

Headquarters: Boston, Massachusetts

Overview: Bain & Company is an American management consultancy with offices in England. It is known as one of the “Big Three” consultancies and is one of the most prestigious employers in the industry. The company has been voted as the best place to work at four times (2012, 2014, 2017, and 2019). 98 per cent of staff approve of the CEO and most say the company has the best people to work with.

Overview: The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a part of British life and culture. It has become one of the world’s most famous news and entertainment source. With over 20,000 employees, the BBC is known for its great chances of career progression and good pay benefits. Around 86 per cent of employees and ex-employees would recommend working at BBC to a friend.
