They include jobs in industries that transport passengers as well as cargo via planes, rail, bus, boat, transit system, and any other forms of private and public transportation. As a broad area, careers range from aeroplane pilots to HGV drivers. The main forms of jobs in transportation include taxi drivers, material movers, public transport drivers, and logistics. Working in public transport would require better customer service while material movers are required to be physically strong and have stamina. With a never-ending need for getting products and people from point A to point B, there is always a high demand for new proficient staff.

What are the requirements for Transport jobs

Although there are no specific requirements to work in the transportation industry, there are still a few basic necessities before candidates are able to drive trucks or work in ships. Transportation jobs will require a license to the vehicle-related career being pursued. Furthermore, employers will expect good literacy and numeracy skills, ability to read a map and spatial orientation. This is all dependent on the position. Most driving jobs will need the candidate to be over 18 or 21 depending on the company. On the other hand, candidates will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs and 2 A-Levels to become a pilot. In order to work as a commercial pilot, an Airline Transport Pilot Licence must be earned. The qualification is known as a ‘frozen ATPL’ and unfreezes when a certain number of hours have been achieved. A full-time training course would take 18 months to complete and is around £90,000. It is best to check the exact requirements for the type of transport jobs being pursued as some are more expensive and require more qualifications and experience.
